Our Great Big "WHY" - Do We Need One?

Be forewarned, you do need a "Why" that's big enough for you to overcome the obstacles that will most assuredly rise up before you on your journey to success in your network marketing business.
But we need to accurately identify what our "Why" is and put it into the proper perspective of influence in our network marketing business.
Marketing traditionalists would have us believe that our "Why", at the very least, is directly linked to, if not an actual synonym of "belief"!
Citing an exerpt from the Ann Sieg free report, "7 Great Lies of Network Marketing", one of the biggest misconceptions about what causes unsuccessful marketing is "You just don't have enough belief".
I've hung my share of photos of exotic cars, houses and multi-million dollar checks on the kitchen refrigerator, bathroom mirror and the side of my computer tower too (Sheepish Grin), in a vain attempt to implant a strong enough positive mental picture within myself, increase my belief, and Mad magazine motivate and inspire me into an unstoppable "marketing automaton" that will overwhelm all the negatives standing between me and success.
Supposedly I would, with enough of this positive seed, arrive at that place where my business would "take off", maybe by finding that "Star Player" that we all heard would launch our business to success.
Sorry...
I never did find that "Star".
Now let's stop and think about it for just a few minutes. Did all that "hooplah" do anything to really increase my belief or my motivation? No. Not for me it didn't, and if you've had or now have a mlm business, you know that I'm speaking the truth!
Now to be fair and accurate about the "Why" in our business, we've all heard the reasons for getting involved in network marketing - freedom of time, bankrolling our grandchildren's college education, paying our way out of debt, etc..
These are good, justifiable reasons to start a mlm business, but let's stop short of over-valuing, and giving supremacy to the "Why". If your reason or "Why" can get you out of bed in the morning with an exuberance and energy strong enough to carry you through the challenges (friends or circumstances) of your multilevel marketing venture, then great, your "Why" is doing its job.
We do need a "Why", but there are other important factors that drive our success in network marketing, and we will be much better served in correctly positioning our "Why" against the backdrop of our overall marketing model.
